We are a Christ-centred community committed to sharing the love of Jesus in word and deed.

Our vision is to be agents of God’s reconciling love in Kaikōura.

A little church with a big heart, St Peter’s is part of the Anglican Diocese of Nelson, which covers the top third of the South Island.

What to Expect

At our Sunday morning worship services, you can expect two parts: the Service of the Word and the Service of the Sacrament.

In the first part of the service we hear God’s word read aloud, sing together, hear a sermon based on the lectionary (Scripture texts), and pray for the church and the world. We also have a time for confession of sin and the absolution. In the second part of the service we share in Holy Communion.

After the service we have morning tea in the hall to spend time in fellowship with one another.

An Eco Church

We care about God’s creation and believe that actively caring for the earth is central to our Christian faith.

St Peter’s is proud to be part of Eco Church NZ, through A Rocha Aotearoa NZ. We began our Eco Church journey in 2020.

As an Eco Church, St Peter’s has been involved in several local conservation projects, such as the Great Kaikōura Whale Count and Hutton’s Shearwater FlySafe Campaign. We support the work of the Kaikōura Ocean Research Institute. As a church, we’re working on waste minimisation to get closer to zero waste. If you join us for a cuppa in the hall after our Sunday morning service, you’ll be served fair trade tea and coffee.

You can find out more about Eco Church at their website.
